DJI may be known for making drones, but it’s making waves in the entire camera market.
It brought video of flying through the air to the masses with its DJI Phantom. It brought that same flying look to images from the ground with its first Osmo. Then it added a zoom for Osmo. And now, it is bringing that gliding look to images taking on your smartphone with today’s launch of Osmo Mobile.
DJI on Thursday launched Osmo Mobile, a 3-axis gimbal system that smooths out any movements from walking or even just a shaky hand to turn what was otherwise “just another iPhone video” to a cinematic-esque shot.
The Osmo Mobile includes the same ActiveTrack technology used in its newer drones to keep the smartphone facing you as you move.
It also helps you live stream, create motion timelapses, panorama shots and more from your phone.
“DJI continues to revolutionize the way we capture and share memories,” said Frank Wang, DJI CEO and founder. “The Osmo Mobile combines the best of DJI’s beloved Osmo smart stabilization technology with the robust DJI GO app. This is a breakthrough, allowing smartphone users unprecedented control of and creative possibilities for their devices.”
Osmo Mobile will cost $299.
