The NYCDFF is an entirely virtual event this year — but it’s going to be huge. NYCDFF is short for NYC Drone Film Festival, and it’s the 6th-annual-edition of the popular aerial video competition. I’ll be participating this year as a speaker in the masterclass portion of the event — and because of that, I’ve got discount NYCDFF tickets for Drone Girl readers.
To get a discounted ticket, simply use this link to save 15% off the usual NYCDFF ticket price.
After five years, this is the first year the event is 100% virtual, coming to computer screens live on October 24 & 25. And that’s not the only change for the NYCDFF. This year, the NYCDFF becomes the AirVuz NYCDFF, as the Minneapolis-based video sharing website acquired NYCDFF at the beginning of 2020.
The event is set to be a lot more inclusive this year, as you don’t need to be in New York in order to attend. You can tune in from your couch, in your pajamas. And even if you haven’t submitted footage to the film contest, there are still tons of ways to participate (beyond watching the other entries).
The film festival is a lot more than just watching films. There will also be presentations from experts and professionals in the drone industry for a total of more than 30 hours of masterclasses, including experts in cinematography, FPV racing and more. And these aren’t the typical, boring conference workshops. DJ Hesta Prynn will share how to choose music, which can make or break your drone video. Luisa Winters will give a talk for film nerds on Editing Theory. Alex Vanover has the scoop on advanced drone racing tactics.
There’s even a talk from me on “How to pitch your drone business to the press.” Trust me, I get a TON of pitches, and 95% of them end up in my trash bin, so I know what goes into a good pitch if you’re seeking media coverage.
“We’re going to have a kick-ass show filled with the best drone films in the world, as usual,” said NYCDFF founder and director Randy Scott Slavin.
Tickets are typically $120 for an all-access pass to the virtual event, but AirVuz is offering discount NYCDFF tickets to Drone Girl readers for $100. Use this link and the DroneGirl coupon code will automatically apply.
