Looking for an ultra-miniature FPV drone?
The Skeye Nano 2 FPV drone, made by TRND Labs, weighs about a half an ounce and is just slightly larger than a paperclip. It’s fun to fly, but the neatest thing about it is that it also records video and live streams it via Wifi to your phone so you can get a first person view of what the drone’s camera is seeing.
At $129, the Skeye Nano 2 FPV is an awesome solution for someone who wants a super tiny drone that shoots video but won’t burn a hole in your wallet.
Inside the box:
- A charger (which charges through your computer; battery life is about 10 minutes)
- The controller (which requires AAA batteries, not included)
- A set of replacement blades
- A crash cage (definitely use this to protect your blades!)
You can fly the drone without a smartphone or Wifi connection, which means simply controlling the camera with the controller. But the neatest part is connecting your smartphone with the drone. By using the Skeye Nano app, you can see a livestream from the drone’s camera as well as control the drone from your phone (without the controller).
The drone is very easy to figure out — like most drones the left stick controls altitude, while the right stick controls direction.
But, unlike super fancy drones that will cost a lot more, it won’t hold its position in the air. And I actually find this a good thing. I think every drone enthusiast should buy a cheap, toy drone like the Skeye Nano 2 FPV. It’s a great option for someone looking for a fun toy. But for someone looking for a more serious drone, I recommend they learn to fly on something like the Skeye Nano simply because it is much harder to fly than most advanced drones. If you can fly a Skeye Nano with ease, then you can fly anything!
This is an awesome, reliable little toy drone. I personally like it to have for training my own students before they graduate to flying one of my own advanced drones.
So what are you waiting for? Happy flying!
